8th-22nd Febuary, 2019:

One day orientation programme on need and importance for English fluency in current scenario was organized on 06.07.2019. Fr. Samson Raja served as resource person. He demonstrated the content analysis of various university syllabi and he delivered a lecture on the reason for lagging of fluency in English and its remedial measures. Our student teachers and faculty members actively participated. Sr. Sabina Jose, Vice Principal, Sr. Catherine, student-counselor presided over the programme.

14th Febuary, 2019:

13th College Anniversay was celerated. Fr.John Kennedy was invited to conduct a thanksgiving mass followed by lunch.

29th January, 2019:

Pariksha pe Charcha 2.0. oraganized by the MHRD deptment was live telecasted for our staff and student teachers. Indian Prime Minister Mr. Nadrendra Modi interacted with the parents, teachers and students on over coming the examination stress.

26th January, 2019:

Republic day was celebrated in a very grand manner jointly with our model schools. Mr. Devadoss, Research Officer, Gandhi Museium was the Chief Guest. He hoited the flag and delivered the speech. March past and meaningful cultural programmes were presented by all the four institutions. The celebration was closed with the National Anthem.

18th January, 2019:

Pongal day was celebrated by our staff and sudent teachers at Sneha Illam along with grannies there. Rangoli competition was conducted. Mrs. Logarubini our Alumni was the judge . Sweet Pongal was prepared by our staff and student teachers.

11th January, 2019:

12th Annual Sports day was celebrated. Dr. David Amirtha Rajan, Former Dean, MK university presided the event. Mass Drill and March past was displayed. Ms. Saloni bagged the overall individual championship. Overall team championship was won by Platinum Team. Sr. Sabina Jose, our Vice Principal declared the sports meet closed.

22nd December, 2018:

Christmas was celebrated in our college. Fr. Paulraj, from Madurai Arch Diocese was invited as a special guest who gave a beautiful Christmas message. Cultural programme depicting the birth of Christ was brought out by the student teachers. All the staff members were greeted with a gift.

7th December, 2018:

Seminar on Yoga was conducted for the student teachers. Mrs. Indra Basker was the Resource Person.

3rd December, 2018:

Mr. Ramanathan, Assistant Director, Employment Exchange conducted a programme on “Career Guidance and Employment Opportunities “ for our student teachers.
1st December, 2018: Workshop on teaching Aids was conducted in our college. Dr. Aruna Sankaravelayutham, Associate Professor, SCCE was the Resource Person.

24th November, 2018:

Fancy Fete was celebrated. All the four educational institutions hosted the event jointly. Sale of eatables, stalls with fancy items and games, Lucky dips were put up. Capt. Dhavapunithan John was the Chief Guest. Students with their family and friends were invited to the fair.

20th November, 2018:

Inauguration of Arts and Literary Association was held. Mrs. Anbukarthikayini, Tamil Teacher from M.M. School was invited as our chief guest. The Secretary Mrs. Amuthavalli presented the action plan. Our students conducted a debate and organized various cultural programmes.

17th November, 2018:

Election awareness programme was organized at St. Charles Mat. H.S.S. Sr. Amalarani, President, CRI about the awareness on right to vote. All the faculty members of St. Charles institutions attended the meeting. Afternoon session inaugural of Science association was held. Mr. Thirugnana Sambantham was the Chief Guest. Mrs. A. Packiam, the Secretary presented the action plan. Our student teachers conducted a skit and spoke on the development of Science.

12th November, 2018:

Two days workshop on Puppetry was organized. Mr. Festival and Mr. Jeeva were the Resource persons. They trained the student teacher to design and prepare various types of puppets. Finally the students themselves staged a puppet show with the puppets they made.

31st October, 2018:

Feast day of our patron St. Charles Borromeo was celebrated by offering a Grand Mass. Fr. Amal.K, Rector, Arulanandar College was the main celebrant. The feast Dinner was served for all.

26th September, 2018:

Sr. Gracy from St. Charles Health Centre, Madurai was invited to conduct a session on “First Aid”basic First Aid information and treatment procedures and instructions were taught.

28th October, 2018:

10th Graduation day was held for the 2015-17 batch student teachers. Dr. Deenathayalan, Head, dept. of Economics and Senate member, Madurai Kamaraj University presided and awarded the Degree certificates. The entire graduation ceremony was conducted as per the norms of Tami Nadu State Council for Higher Education.Alumni Meet was conducted in the afternoon. Dr. Sr. Amali Anbarasi, our Principal presided over the function and gave an inspiring speech. Nomination and Election of Office Bearers was conducted by Dr. Aruna Sankara Velayutham. Alumni members presented a dance programme on the occasion.

12th October, 2018:

One day International Conference was jointly organized by our management and L Ordine Nuovo Publications on, “English Literature and Education. 117 scholars for various reputed institution participated in the conference. Sr. Sabina Jose, our Vice Principal welcomed the gathering. The conference was presided by Dr. Muthumanickam, Head, Dept. of Education, Madurai Kamaraj University and was Chaired by Dr. Balakrishnan, Publisher L Ordine Nuovo Publications. Dr. mani manga Mani from Putra University, Malaysia and Dr. J. John Sekar, H.O.D, Research Department of English, The American College were the Key Speakers. The Convener Sr. Mary Catherine proposed the Vote of thanks for the Inaugural function for the Valedictory function, the Valedictory address was given by the Co-ordinator Dr. Aruna Sankara Velayutham, associate Professor in Perspective Education, SCCE. The Certificates were distributed by Dr. K. Vellaichamy, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Education, Madurai Kamaraj University. The International Conference came to an end with National Anthem.

2nd October, 2018:

Gandhi Jeyanthi was celebrated. Dr. Andiappan, Head, Dept. of Gandhian Thoughts, Madurai Kamaraj University was the Chair Person of the day. Competition were held with the four student teacher teams. Skit, Competition and Bhajans were held. The Chief Guest in his speech spoke on Gandhiji Principle and policies.

29th September, 2018:

Elder’s day was celebrated with destitute senior citizen inmates at ‘Sneha Illam’. Sr. Fathima Rani, Superior, St. Charles Society, Madurai and Sr. Roselin, Warden, Sneha Illam presided over the function. Sr. Mary Catherine, Student Counsellor and the Extension Service Cell organized the programme. Students entertained the grannies with special cultural programme and the function ended with the distribution of sweets and gifts.

25th September, 2018:

A session on “How to face Interviews” was conducted. Our Alumni Ms. Loga Rubini, Lecturer, Dept. of Commerce,Madura College was invited as Guest Lecturer.

20th September, 2018:

Inauguration of cells and clubs and various other association was done. The student representatives of each cells and clubs introduced with the action plans. Mr. S. Xavier Preeze White, Counselor was the Chief Guest and he spoke on the qualities a leader should possess.

10th September, 2018:

Student teachers accompanied by the staff were taken to a Book fair in Thamukkam grounds. The students were amazed by the variety and number of books exhibited. The visit enhanced the reading interest in students.

10th September, 2018:

Student teachers of First year were taken on field trip to Gandhi Museum. Dr. Natarajan, Educational Officer, Gandhi Museum gave a talk on the food and lifestyle and the importance of millets and cereals.

5th September, 2018:

Teachers day was celebrated by the student teachers in our college. In the morning a prayer service was conducted. Both Sr. Sabina Jose, Vice Principal and Sr. Catherine, student councilor wished the teachers with sweets and gifts. A short programme and a game was conducted. Gifts were distributed by the college union members to the staff. In the afternoon staff of all our model school and college gathered in St. Charles Matric HSS and had a common celebration. Sr. Fatima Rani, our superior wished and thanked all the teachers for their service. Gifts were distributed by the management to all.

27th August, 2018:

Sr. Christine Vase, General Counsel for Education & Asst. General, Sr.Josephine Nirmala, General for Finance from the Generalate and Sr.Celine Joseph, Vice Provincial, Eastern Province visited our college. Sr. Sabina Jose gave a presentation of our college activities. Our Student teachers were asked by the visitors to keep in pace and never give up learning new things to be an effective teacher.

20th August, 2018:

Student Council Election for the I year student teachers was conducted. Election results were announced by the Vice Principal Sr. Sabina Jose.

18th August, 2018:

Tanker Awareness and Prevention Programme was conducted by Mr. V. Alagumalai, by the Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Centre. The functioning of Kidney , Infection and Diseases that affect the Kidney. The Indication and prevention of Kidney disorder was explained.

15th August, 2018:

Independence day was celebrated along with our model schools. The celebration started with Flag hoisting and March Pat. Rev. Fr. Paul Prakash, Associate Professor in English, Arul anandar College of Arts and Science presided over the function. Our student teachers presented a patriotic song in a dance form. The chief guest gave an inspiring speech and asked everyone to strive for the inner freedom of heart and soul.

13th July, 2018:

Orientation for our first year (2018-19 Batch) batch was held. Mr. Muthukumar Rtd. HOD, Commerce Dept., SVN College was the Chief Guest. Ms. Sujatha from Adrien Villa, Chennai was invited to conduct English Communicative classes for the freshers. The session lasted for 5 days and the student teachers were very much motivated by her teaching.

6th August, 2018:

A session on Mobile Screen Mirroring interactive classroom using Diksha App and QR coding which was recently introduced in textbooks by the TN Educational Board was conducted by Mr. Arul Moraes.

7th July, 2018 :

Orientation day was organized. 90 teachers from our models schools in our campus and our college participated. Fr. Inigo Roy from Don Bosco Provincialate was the Resource Person. He enriched the session through some short films and videos. He explained personal belief system, Qualities of great personality, Humanism, 10 things that will make you happy, development of students individuality and building confidence level in children.

5th July, 2018 :

World Yoga day was celebrated. Dr. Aruna Sankara Velayutham, Asst. Professor presided over the function. Ms. Abiya of student teacher of English Education lead the session, she insisted that yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried out everyday. Our student teachers performed various yogasanas as directed by Ms. Abiya.

22nd June, 2018 :

Inspection for the continuation of affiliation was conducted by TNTEU, Chennai. Mrs. Jayanthi, Asst. Prof. and Mrs. Gnanasoundari, Asst. Prof. Dept of Educationla Planning and Administration, TNTEU, Chennai were the Convener and the member for the inspection.

24th January, 2018 :

A seminar on “Innovations in Teaching, Learning and Research” was conducted in our conference hall through Video conferencing with the help of Skype and Teamviewer. Dr. Muthupandi, MKU was the Resource person.

18th January, 2018:

Pongal was celebrated in our campus with Sneha Illam inmates (Old destitutes). Mrs. Indra Basker, Yoga Mistress was the chief Guest and Mrs. Meena, Mrs. Punitavathy and Selvi. Richa Jenifer were invited as examiners for various competition conducted.

One day International Conference on “English Language, Literature and Education” was jointly organized by our College and ‘Roots International Journal of Multidisciplinary Researches’. Dr. Anita Devi Pillai and Dr. Mary Ellis from Nanyang Technological University were the key speakers. Mr. Pereira from Madurai Kamaraj University, Dr. K. Govindarajan from Alagappa University,Karaikudi, Dr. R.K. Jaishree Karthiga from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, Dr. M. Ananthi from Palani Andavar College, Palani were the Resource and Chair persons for paper Presentation. Valedictory address was given by Ms. R. Sridevi, Asst. Professor Mathematics, Loyola College of Education, Chennai.

22nd July :

One day State Level Workshop on “NextGen Teaching Aids” was conducted by our Associate Professor Dr. Aruna Shankara Velayutham. 73 members participated.

15th July :

Dr. Muthupandi, Professor from Madurai Kamaraj University gave a session on SPSS statistical software application for the teaching faculty.

21st June :

World Yoga Day was Celebrated. A team from Manavala Yoga Mandram was invited to give a guest lecture and train the student teachers in Yoga.

6th June :

Mr. Antony and Ms. Sabina Sedan NGOs from Thirumangalam were invited to enlighten our student teachers on the employment opportunities available.

19th & 20th May :

Recollection day was celebrated. Mr. Karthikeyan, Mr. Kannan and Ms. Sumathi were the Resource persons. Health learning and counseling were undertaken by them on the second day.

2nd To 27th May :

Communication Skill Development classes was conducted for I year students of our college and for the public dwelling in and around Thirumangalam village. On the final day a valedictory function was held Mr. Mahimainathan Rtd. HM was the chief guest and he issued the certificates for the participants.

29th April :

Parents Teachers meeting was arranged. Views and suggestions were gathered from parents.

28th & 29th April :

Science Association Organized Programme : i) Eradication of karuvelam Maram was undertaken around a pond with the help of Mr. Vishawanath and his team. ii) Dr. Stephen Raj , Professor, American College was the chief guest spoke to the student teachers on Prosopis Sperigera a boon or bane.

22nd Arpil :

Annual Day Celeberation. Dr. Sarala Thambavani , Principal of Sri Meenakshi Arts and Science College was the Chief gues, Mrs. Ananthavalli, District Social Welfare Officer was the Guest of Honour. Various Cultural programmes were staged by our student teachers.

Campus interview was held at our campus, Mahatham Montessori, St. Mary of Leuca, K. C Vidyala and Montfort schools participated.

05th Sep 2015-Teachers’ Day.

The Teachers’ Day was celebrated in a grand manner. Ms.Priya & Ms.Tharani, the student teachers compered the celebration. The gathering was welcomed by Ms.Subhamani. Dr.Sr.Amali Anbarasi, the Principal amplified the importance of the Teacher’s Profession. Our student teachers presented cultural programme. Finally, the celebration came to an end with vote of thanks said by Ms.Sripriya.

20th Oct 2015- Visit By The Education Commission Of The Eastern Province.

The members of the Education Commission of the Eastern Province Sr.Mary Queen & Sr.Celine Joseph had come for the inspection. The management had arranged for a meeting which started with a prayer. There was a power point presentation which reflected the entire activities of the year. The education commission had a meeting with student-teachers, teaching staff and non-teaching staff and gave a brief report of their observation to the management at the end of the visit.

14th- 18th Dec 2015: Citizenship Training Camp.

On 14th Dec 2015, the five day C.T Camp was inaugurated by Dr.A.Muthumanickam, Registrar i/c, Madurai Kamaraj University. Eye Donation Awareness Camp was organized by Lion.Dr.J.Ganesh.M.J.F of Rotary Club, Sivakasi. On 16th Dec 2016, A session on Water Resource Management was taken by Er, M. Dhanasekarapandian, PWD, Madurai. Another session on Climatic changes was taken by Dr.R.Vijaya, M.K.U-Madurai. On 17th Dec 2015, a session on Stress & Cardiac diseases was taken by Dr.D.P.Sankar, Interventional Cardiologist, Apollo Hospital, Madurai. The campers organized everyday an awareness programme for the villagers and took on rallies to propagate their views on some of the social issues. Blood Donation Camp was organized in collaboration with DYFI. On 18th Dec 2015, the campers made a visit to the Blind School at Sundara Rajanpatti. That evening, there was an Art & Craft exhibition. The camp came was closed with Camp Fire by Rev.Fr.Jayaseelan.S.J was the Chief Guest for the occasion.

On 15th Dec 2015 -Inspection By Tamilnadu Teachers Education University.

An inspection for continuation of affiliation was conducted by the members of Tamilnadu Teachers Education University, Chennai. Dr.K.Rajasekaran and Dr.P.Saravanan were the Convenor and the member for the inspection respectively.

On 23rd Jan 2016 – Educational Tour.

An educational tour was organized to Tiruchirapalli. Our student teachers and staff visited all the Departments of St.Joseph’s College, Malaikottai, Mukkumbu and Kallanai.

On 06th Feb 2016- Visit To Vivekananda Arts & Science College, Thiruvedagam And Visit To The Library Of Madurai Kamaraj University.

Our staff and student teachers went to Vivekananda Arts & Science College, Thiruvedagam, They witnessed the entire Gurukulam life style observed by the teaching faculty members and students of the college.

On 13th Feb 2016 – Anniversary Of The College Opening Day & Inauguration Of Tin Jubilee Celebration Of The College.

An inaugural function of the Tin Jubilee was celebrated with a high mass offered by five priests. Thereafter, there was a grand dinner to all given by the management.

On 08th Mar 2016- Miss. Carolina Day.

‘Miss.Carolina Day’ (Womens’ Day) was celebrated in a grand scale. Dr.Karthick Pandian, Physiotheropist & Neurologist and Mr.Natarajan, Director of Gandhi Museum were the Chief Guests of the day. A lot of competitions were conducted. The winners were given prizes. Miss.Arul Varsha Rani emerged with the highest score in the first round for ‘Miss.Carolina award’.

On 11th & 12th March 2016 – Two Day NAAC Sponsored International Seminar.

The seminar was conducted on “ICT in Education & Research: Innovations, Trends and Issues”. There were 110 participants who made their paper presentation. Dr.Sr. Amali Anbarasi, Principal of our college gave the inaugural address. The Presidential address was given by Rev.Dr.Basil Xavier, Principal, Arul Anandar College, Karumathur. The key note address was given by Rev.Dr.Amaladass Xavier, Principal, St.Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai. The felicitation was given by Dr.Vijayalakshmi Stephen, M.D, Vijayalakshmi Hi-Tech Solutions Ltd.

A session on Mobile/Virtual learning was taken by Rev.Dr.Amaladass Xavier. Another session on Interactive white board Demo was taken by Mr.Nicholas Jegan. In the afternoon, Dr.Valarmathi of Annamal College of Education, Tuticorin led a session on Web Technology & Online learning. On the second day, a felicitation was given by Dr.David Amirtha Rajan, Former Dean of M.K.U & Head/PG & Research Department, American College, Madurai. Dr.Muthu Pandi, Asst.Prof in Education, D.D.E., M.K.U held the session on Research in Education and in SPSS. There was a presentation through skype by Mr.Brian Harvath from United States. The valedictory address was given by Dr.Jothi Rajan, Associate Professor, Arul Anandar College, Karumathur. Finally the certificates were distributed and the guests were honoured. The seminar ended with National Anthem.

On 29th Apr 2016-10th College Annual Day.

10th College Annual Day was Celebrated highlighting the occasion of Tin Jubilee in a grand manner. Dr.Abhai Kumar, Principal, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai was the Chief Guest. Rev.Fr.Amal.S.J., Rector, Arul Anandar College, Karumathur, was the Guest of Honour. The Annual Report was presented with P.P.T by our Principal Rev.Dr.Amali Anbarasi, in an interesting manner, which covered the entire activities of 2015-2016, progress and plan for the future. The IQAC News letter and the first copy of the NAAC Sponsored International Seminar was released. Dr.Abhai Kumar, the Chief Guest addressed the gathering with his inspiring speech of his thorough knowledge and experience. And he distributed the prizes to the winners of the various competitions conducted. Three staff members who had completed 10 years of service were honoured with golden ring. Tin Jubilee Souvenir was distributed. Thus, the Annual Day ended with National Anthem.

On 08th June 2016-World Environmental Day Celebration.

World Environmental Day Celebration was celebrated, which was organized by the Science Association of our college. A video clipping on ‘Save the earth’, focusing on all types of pollution, scarcity of water, waste management, Global Warming etc was projected. Our student teachers gifted 25 saplings to our college. An oath was taken by all the participants NOT TO WASTE WATER & FOOD.

On 15th Aug 2016 – The 69th Independence Day Celebration.

The 69th Independence Day Celebration was celebrated jointly by all the four educational institutions in a colourful manner. Our student teachers presented a skit criticizing the political corruption and Religious fanaticism-depicting the incidents that occurred around slaughtering cows for beef. There was a march past & mass drill and a cultural programmes.

22nd Oct, 2016 – 9th Graduation Day,

Dr. S. Thangasamy, Vice Chancellor, Tamilnadu Teachers Education University was our Honourable Chief Guest and delivered the graduation address and distributed the degree certificates.

23rd And 24th Nov 2016 – A Two Day State Level Seminar And Workshop On ‘Teaching For Next Gen’ Was Held In Our College Campus.

Dr. Arunachalam, Dean, Academic Process, Thiyagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai was the Chief Guest. Dr. M.A. Jothirajan, Associate Professor in Physics, Arul Anandar College, and Madurai presided and delivered the presidential speech. Mr.James Sebastin, Correspondent, Assisi world School, Madurai, and Mr. Praveen Mahimainathan, Founder – Institution of Brain Training were the resource persons.

3rd Dec 2016 – Celebrated Our 10th Annual Sports Meet

Rev. Fr. Soosaimanikam, Head Master, St. Claret Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Madurai was the chief guest. Mrs. Indra Baskaran, Yoga Instructor from Nagamalaipudhukotai was the guest of honour.

16th – 20th Jan 2017 – A Five Days Citizenship Training Camp Was Held In Our College And Its Neighbourhood.

Consumer Rights awareness, Human Rights and Sexual Harassment, AIDS awareness, RTI, RTE Women’s rights Acts, Women’s Rights, Eye Donation Awareness, Water Conservation, First Aid and Personality Development were the few topics the keynote speakers addressed in different sessions. Rallies and activities to create awareness in children and women were organized by the campers everyday of the camp.

15th Feb 2016, ‘Eera Nilam’

Art Exhibition on Environmental Awareness by artist Thamilarasan was held in our campus, followed by a drawing competition where many students from schools and colleges in Madurai participated.

From 1st To 8th March 2017 – Women’s Day Women’s day

was celebrated in our college and the best student was honoured and crowned as Miss. Carolina of the year on 8th March in a colourful celebration. ‘Honourable Woman of the year’ award sponsored by SCCE was conferred on Ms. Sathyabarathi.
